"This Hatteras 53 was built by the Hatteras shipyard in 1979 and launched in 1980. It is very habitable and spacious. It is ideal as a waterfront secondary residence. Solid mahogany interior woodwork. Very large flybridge, all sunbeds are new. Teak aft swimming platform.
Main characteristics: Motor yacht with aft cabin. The 53’ is the most successful mid-size motor yacht ever built by Hatteras, with over 600 units produced in various configurations and layouts from 1971 to 1989. This classic motor yacht owes its great popularity to its excellent build quality, spacious layout, and excellent seafaring qualities.
Its accommodations are spacious, its two Detroit 8V71 TI engines (turbocharged diesel engines with intercooler, 2 X 420 HP) are reliable and robust, making it an ideal yacht for extended cruising or very comfortable living aboard. You will be amazed by the mahogany woodwork and original equipment inside.
The interior of the vessel at deck level is arranged with a helm station forward and a salon aft. The aft deck is accessible via hinged wooden and glass doors located behind the salon. A curved teak staircase, to starboard and forward of the helm station, leads to a custom galley. Forward and down from the galley is the forward cabin with two single berths and a storage closet to starboard prepared to receive a washer, as well as a shelf and the head to port. Aft and down from the galley, a longitudinal corridor extends aft between the engine rooms, with the guest cabin, configured with two single berths side by side and a storage closet, to port. To starboard are the guest head. The corridor ends at the master stateroom, arranged with a queen size island bed located in the middle, the head forward and to starboard. The engine rooms are located to port and starboard, next to the corridor.
The main salon and pilothouse are easily accessible either via the hinged teak doors of the aft deck, or via the pilothouse area forward through the sliding port and starboard side deck doors that lead to the forward part of the vessel.
Upon entering the spacious mahogany salon, you will be immediately impressed by the magnificent woodwork and natural light thanks to 360 degrees of windows (port, starboard, forward, and aft). Two large sofas/berths to port, convertible couch to starboard.
The pilothouse is forward and open to the main salon and at the same level: central helm station with full engine controls, gauges, and electronics. Entry to starboard towards the curved teak staircase leading to the galley and lower deck with the (3) cabins and heads, as well as the engine room.
The cabins: the spacious master stateroom is aft and at the end of the lower deck staircase and includes the following: queen size island bed located transversely and against the port side with storage drawers underneath and a vanity. Master suite head. Large midship guest cabin with 2 twin berths side by side, head located to port opposite the midship guest cabin. Located forward of the galley area, another guest cabin with 2 single bunk beds to starboard, private entry to the adjoining head for guests forward.
The flybridge is accessible from the lower aft deck via a stainless steel ladder with teak steps through a fiberglass hatch with an upper opening. Upper helm station at the center with a surrounding railing and a windshield at the front of the flybridge area. The upper helm station of this Hatteras 53 has full engine controls, gauges, and electronics. The accessible engine rooms are conveniently located to port and starboard of the lower staircase.
Hull, antifouling, and anodes new in 2025. Possibility for non-French resident buyers to keep the English flag at a low cost.
