A new daysailer designed by Alessandro Comuzzi with peculiar aspects and a tailor-made design and have the possibility to use the boat in complete autonomy. This main need is declined in the possibility of arriving at the bow without facing steps or climbing the deck to make the mooring or arm the bow sails. This aspect characterizes the general design of the boat that develops with a cockpit stretched almost to the extreme bow, interrupted exclusively by the transto of the self-twisting bow, which can be lifted in two halves if necessary to allow passage (even in navigation). The maneuvers are of course all at hand and are served exclusively by a single central winch. All the maneuvers are also hidden to obtain maximum cleanliness of the boat. Even the mainsail's scald comes out, like all other maneuvers, from the central console and therefore is within reach of the helmsman. The hull is designed to have good stability and speed even with little wind. The boat is in fact designed for summer thermal winds and has a sail area of 41 m2; not exaggerated considering the use mainly in single. He can arm a gennaker or a Code zero. The boat is built in mahogany laminated wood as regards the hull and the internal structure will be made of marine plywood and epoxy resin. This guarantees great rigidity and lightness. The preliminary weight is 1540 with 700 kg between fin and lead torpedoes (draft 1.90 mt).

Versatility, seaworthy qualities and original solutions are the strengths of the First 41S5, which is the result of a collaboration between Bénéteau and designer Philippe Starck. Produced in about 350 units from 1989 to 1994, it is offered with three bulb versions: keel with shallow draft fins, long keel in cast iron or in the sportier version in lead. The design of the deckhouse is pleasant, rounded and equipped with numerous skylights. The mast with 9/10 fractional rigging has two rows of quartered spreaders without flying shrouds. The look of the interiors is also curious, thanks to the rounded shapes of the fittings in red mahogany and satin aluminum. Available with two or three cabins.
