ABOUT THE LEGEND:

Carlo Timossi was chief designer at Riva and started his own business in the early 1950s. There are only a few sports boats under the Timossi label and they naturally look confusingly similar to the Rivas.

Probably the most famous boat from his shipyard is a racing boat:

In 1953, the Italian millionaire Achille Castoldi had this racing boat built by Timossi, which he called "Arno XI".
The hull consisted of a sturdy frame made of boatbuilding plywood and a planking of mahogany veneer as well as the ferrarrirot lacquered superstructure made of aluminium.
At the heart of the boat was initially a 4.5 l engine with twin ignition, with its 385 hp it reached a top speed of 200 km/h. However, this record was soon surpassed and the engine was revised. With two superchargers and two Weber carburettors, the machine now had 600 hp and could set the world record to over 240 km/h!

In 1954, Castoldi retired from racing and sold the boat to Nando dell'Orto, who visually changed the superstructure at the air intake and the vertical fin.

The boat's popularity today is the result of various models that exist of it and the design, which in an extreme way ensures the connection of the Ferrari myth with water sports.
