Description
I am selling my Ketch Classic Boat, the larger sibling of the Rorqual, which was touted as the best « cruiser-racer » sailboat in the 1970-1980s. This ketch is a seafaring, fast, and sturdy boat. It was designed by naval architect Auzépy Brenner to sail the high seas safely, with a focus on performance and comfort.
Renovation and Equipment
It is superbly equipped, with new gear, the refit having been carried out at the beginning of 2021. A bow thruster was installed at the beginning of 2024. An expertise carried out at the end of the refit in 2021 is available.
Construction and Technical Characteristics
The hull is made of molded wood with three plies of mahogany (18 mm longitudinal interior and two crossed plies of 6 mm) on laminated frames. Exterior epoxy stratification. The lead ballast is bolted to the keel stub. Rudder on a skeg. Wheel steering with cable drosses. Three-bladed bronze propeller.
Deck and Fittings
Deck construction in plywood with teak covering glued/screwed. Balconies, stanchions, inox guardrails. « Goïot » opening deck panels and « Goïot » sliding panel for the cabin entrance.
Rigging and Sails
Rigging revised and completed in 2021: masts and booms in aluminum « Sparcraft », painted « wood ». Genoa and staysail furling systems « Facnor ». Winches « Harken » and electric windlass « Quick ». Dacron sails with horizontal cut, including a genoa, a staysail, a full-batten mainsail, and a mizzen.
Engine and Electricity
Perkins 4.236 engine of 80 HP, installed in 2018 and revised in 2021. Electrical equipment including batteries, « Quick » 40 A charger, solar panels, and a « Victron » 500 W inverter. Lecombe and Schmidt linear pack for autopilot installed.
Interior Layout
Forepeak with double berth, passageway with closed-in bed to starboard, 2 bunk beds to port. Heads with washbasin, shower, and toilet. Saloon with table to starboard, « lounge » corner to port. Equipped galley with stainless steel stove, refrigerator/freezer, pressure system, and water heater. Heating and air conditioning.
Tanks
Water: 1400 liters in 2 steel tanks
Diesel: 700 liters in 2 steel tanks and a daily reserve of 125 liters in roto-molded
