Owner speaks : After numerous charters and the shared purchase with friends of a Sun Odyssey 45, we wanted to acquire a larger boat that better met the specifications we had established over the years of sailing. Discovering the brand new Dufour 500 at the Paris boat show in December 2012 allowed us to realise our ambition, as this boat perfectly met our wishes in terms of layout, functionality and supposed performance given the profile of the hull. The boat was delivered to us in May 2013 and we quickly realised that all our wishes had been fulfilled, including in terms of comfort and performance (we had opted for the Grand Prix version with a mast extended by 1.40 m). We took full advantage of this yacht along the French coast from Fécamp to Hendaye, in England from the Isle of Wight to Scilly and along the north coast of Spain. The purchase of a hydro-generator was an obvious choice, enabling us to sail for several days exclusively under sail. In addition, and just for fun, we've taken part in the Tour de Belle Ile on several occasions (with no demerits) and also competed in the 18 Hours of Arcachon.
