Owner speaks : When we retired, after many years of sailing and scuba diving, we decided to switch to a motorboat, which requires much less physical fitness when the weather turns inclement. After Covid, we set our sights on Bernic 6, a 2011 Merry Fisher 10 that ticked all the boxes, especially with its two front and rear thrusters, which make manoeuvring in port a breeze, as this was something that had initially daunted us a little. Living in Nantes, we sailed this boat for three months a year between Camaret and Île de Ré, enjoying many extraordinary anchorages and numerous charming harbours dotted along the coastline. We particularly appreciated the comfort of the boat at anchor with its cockpit cover, which served as a "veranda" and where we spent most of our evenings sheltered from the wind. The flybridge was also much appreciated when sailing and for meals, with a panoramic view of the surrounding boats. With its efficient hull and powerful Yanmar engine, the boat feels very safe when the weather turns a little rough. What's more, it has windscreen wipers and heating while sailing, which makes a nice change from sailing trips and we really appreciate it. However, we are parting with Bernic 6 because we wanted to expand our sailing area to include the Channel Islands and perhaps Spain with a larger boat, and also to make it easier to welcome our friends and family. So we decided to buy a Swift Trawler 34, which is now more suited to our cruising plans and gives us complete satisfaction, but is a little more difficult to moor between two pontoons than the Merry Fisher 10, especially in crosswinds.
