Bavaria C38, first launch 4/23, owner's ship, 1st hand, little sailed, shipyard maintained and maintained. Condition very good, in parts significantly better than new, 92 engine hours (as of April 2026), sails amazingly fast and wonderfully stiff.
Little sailing, what does that mean?
Delivery took place at the end of November 2022 directly to the heated indoor warehouse, EW April 27, 2023, the first season hardly driven due to a professional project. Only 22 engine hours in the first season, 14 of them on transfer trips.
Even in 2024, we didn't go on a big trip yet. A few short weekend trips, that's how it stayed for the time being.
It was not until 2025 that the first big family cruise through the Danish South Seas took place. With the pleasing conclusion: Everything was configured correctly, what a great ship, both for dad and for the family!
What is special about this C38?
You know it: The family wants comfort, space and retreats, dad wants speed. With the C38, Bavaria has actually succeeded in creating a "fast spaceship". Even under standard sails, she runs 8.5 knots of speed at 90 degrees and 22 knots of wind - and completely unagitated and stable. With Code Zero and Gennaker it goes a little further. The testers of the "yacht" (like us) saw double-digit numbers and attested to the C38's characteristics similar to those of a performance cruiser.
But the real feature of this ship is comfort.
Large cockpit, in sun and bad weather, the bimini offers a covered but airy terrace. Spacious saloon, huge double berths (2 x 150/200 and 1 x 1.70 x 200), comfortable headroom (1.95m), chill area above the lowerable table (or additional berth, then you have 7 to 8 berths). Three-burner stove, large fridge, microwave, card corner, electric toilet, hot water, indoor and outdoor shower, diesel heating, storage space really without end.
What the family crew particularly likes: In the kitchen, two people can cook at the same time, there is room for 6 to 8 hungry people at the extended table, and the carbon gangway (fits at the bow or stern) brings luggage. Dogs, children and visitors with knee problems are easy on board. The swim platform has sundeck potential and the wide side decks offer space for inflated SUP without overly restricting the space for sailing.
What dad likes: When the ship "locks in" at 20 degrees and just runs off. The permanent code zero on furler, which can be left rolled for days and nights, which is pure luxury, especially on longer trips. After casting off and a heap ride, simply roll out and the ride continues. And yes, even the electric wishes. You don't get any younger, not even as a skipper.
Let's get to what is probably the most important question: Why should it go?
Well, it shouldn't be at all. We love them.
Actually, we had promised each other "from now until forever". But unfortunately, sometimes health messes up in life. In this respect, we are approaching the idea of really giving them up. But you already know what that means: Only in good hands!
Winter berth can be safely taken over, berth in the most beautiful Baltic Sea marina Heiligenhafen probably.
